First Monday

Good Morning!


It's the first Monday of the year (and I'm trying to get myself in gear and get busy.)


Did you have a lovely holiday weekend? I did.  It was great to see friends return home from being away for the holidays.  It was also great to get a 50% off coupon for Borders.  I promptly went out and bought a book I've had my eye on.  Isn't that a good feeling?  To get the book you've wanted for half the price?


Anyway.  I was reading last night in my Expressive Drawing book and so many ideas were swarming through my head.  Its funny how much time I've spent locked into thinking about only painting and then I run across this book and it shakes my artistic brain loose.  There are great exercises throughout the book - it's worth the price (if you're interested).  Very thought provoking and helps to bring me back to basics.  I think it's sparked some new ideas for my paintings and may even take me in a new direction, who knows?


I have to get new lighting for my studio.  I just don't have enough light after the morning.  My studio windows face East.  I'm doing some research now on how I can inexpensively better light my studio.  If any of you have suggestions, I would love to hear them.
