Picking up the pace

Yes in the midst of my creative slump I pushed myself to start sketching (thanks for the tip Sharon!) and found that I had more there than I thought.  I will definitely begin carrying this with me so that when I'm waiting for the kids (etc) I can sit there and sketch and come up with some new ideas.  It's working.  I can tell there has been a bit of a shift and things are slowing opening up from an inspiration standpoint.

Believe it or not I FINALLY decided to do a series off of my 'Sentinel' painting.  So yesterday I finished painting number 2.  It is a lot bigger but that is just because it was the canvas that I had so I just went with it.  I think it turned out pretty good.  My husband really liked it and he's a pretty honest critic so I'm feeling optimistic.  Tonight is the Visual Art Exchange's (VAE) Abstract Art night and I am going to try and go and get some feedback.  That always makes me a little nervous. But if you don't try you don't go anywhere, am I right?

We'll see how this new phase of creating goes.  I hope it opens new creative doors for me. I still want to get into some classes this year.  I think we can all get a bit stagnant if we don't.  I always learn something new and have things to take back to the studio to try or at least think about.

So...are you in progress with some kind of creative endeavor?  Exploring new techniques? If so, I would love to hear about your progress.  What is working and what isn't.

I've talked enough so I'll go put my money where my mouth is and head upstairs to the studio and see what I can whip up.  :)

Have a splendid day!

  1. Great job Michelle! That's the hardest part - getting started. I'd love to see your lastest painting you speak of.

  2. You said it! The next post has the newest painting. My photography stinks on this one but I promise to have a better image soon. Can't wait to see some of your work too! :)
