Acrylic, acrylic inks on canvas
Believe it or not I've not forgotten about my Blog (though it sure looks that way). We've had a bunch of family members that were hospitalized for various and sundry things. All but one are finally home. We're thankful that they are all on the mend.
Anyway....
I've missed writing (and painting). With all that has been going on my art has come to a halt to say the least. It's hard to paint when the floor is dropping out from underneath you. BUT...I am starting to regroup from all of this and will be back in the studio soon.
Since I last wrote, I did a commission for a young woman's fiancee as a wedding gift and one for a physician that I know. It's all very exciting. I've had a few inquiries into some of my existing work for purchase, so we'll see how that goes.
I did get to go to a critique in I think Aug. or Sept. and was told I should do a series based off of my 'Sentinels' painting. When I painted that one it was definitely not in my normal style but it intrigued me. The more I thought about what they had recommended, the more I thought they were onto something. I think I will try and do a series based on that one painting. It's more dark and introspective than my other work but it was very meaningful to me so I'll give it a go.
The holidays will be here soon. I am hoping to do some paintings as gifts for folks. OH...almost forgot. A local physicians group asked me to exhibit 14 pieces of my work next year. WOW! I was very excited when they told me. Very cool. I'll keep you posted.
It's a lovely drizzly, gray Fall day. I love days like this. The gray brings things to light that you may not pay attention to normally. Its like the landscape is brought into focus and you're not distracted by the color but by the form, texture and lines of the scenery. Love it! Funny coming from a person who is so color driven. lol
I hope everyone had a great Halloween! It is a HUGE deal in our home. It is always fun to involve the kids in all the creative stuff we do around this holiday. It just doesn't last long enough. sigh
Well, here is hoping that you all having a splendid day! Enjoy or do something completely new! Buy a tea you've never had, wear two different colored socks, at a restaurant pay for an elderly persons lunch/dinner anonymously.
Share your talents and your attention with someone today...perhaps that someone is YOU.
~Peace
